Martina's Birthday =]

So January 4th was Martina's birthday.

We had brunch at Bills with Soojin, Henry and Erica. It wasn't too bad. I'll leave the commentary to Martina. Though I didn't take any pictures of the food. The photo taking came afterwards, in the Queen Victoria Building (QVB).

All pictures today were taken with the M.Zuiko 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II R lens, except otherwise stated.

1/50 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO500. QVB stained glass windows.

1/30 sec, 17mm, f/3.8, ISO500. Using leading lines to create depth.

1/125 sec, 12mm, f/2.0, ISO100. M.Zuiko 12mm f/2.0. Don't know why I used f/2.0, but I wanted the lens for its sharpness and focal length

You'll notice that the QVB shots all attempt to make the most of leading lines. I tried to take great care in the composition of the photo. Interior design photography is definitely an enjoyable pursuit, searching for that perfect balance of lines, shadows and shape

1/6 sec, 12mm, f/4.0, ISO800. M.Zuiko 12mm f/2.0. The last QVB pic.

After looking around Hobbyco and gawking at Henry's doppelganger, we left for Games Paradise near World Square. Spent around 30 minutes looking through all the board games they had, checking their prices and lusted over games we want.

1/15 sec, 12mm, f/8.0, ISO100. M.Zuiko 12mm f/2.0. Rested on car window frame and taken on George St.

1/500 sec, 12mm, f/2.5, ISO100. M.Zuiko 12mm f/2.0.

After Games Paradise, we again parted with Henry and Erica and walked to Hyde Park. We found a bench and rested, after a difficult morning...eating. This is where the lifestyle portraits began!

1/320 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO640. B&W. Using high burst with face recognition and continuous auto-tracking as they move forward for pin-point focus. As auto-focus as you can get.

1/80 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO640. Hope the tree branches aren't too gnarly.

1/100 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO640. Happy with the shot =]

The final pictures we have, were of Martina and Soojin twirling on the spot and using a fast shutter speed to capture the moment. This photo session was the first time I really had a go at using continuous tracking auto-focus with facial recognition. As you can see the results are very pleasing with very nice focus on the subject's face. Despite the kit lens's softness of the edges in comparison to the 12mm M.Zuiko, its auto-focus speed is very quick.

1/500 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO1000. High ISO for the shutter speed.

1/500 sec, 42mm, f/5.6, ISO1000. Weee...

Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do. I look forward to another session with better gear, one day.

Till next time...
